weekend reads

The weekend has arrived, and the weather forecast calls for sunshine, hot days and warm nights - just the way I love it. I have big plans of lounging in the sun, planting some flowers and catching up on my reading. I just treated myself to the Domino book, which I've been almost-buying since it came out a couple of years ago.

When I went to pick it up at the bookstore (I was planning on walking out of there with a magazine - oops), I took my time and browsed the home decor section. It was with extreme self-control that I limited my purchases to ONE book.

I just found out that the author of Romantic Style, Selina Lake, has her very own blog! Check out her great style here.

The Selby has been out for quite some time. I love the eclectic homes featured. It's great to get the decor juices flowing making you think outside the box. It's another one of my almost-buys every time I go to the bookstore. One day...
This gem I discovered because of its fantastic title: a perfectly kept house is the sign of a misspent life. What a great thought! I'm a little tough on myself (and the fiance) when it comes to a messy house, so this title really got me thinking. Home decor is not about neat interiors, it's about a home you love, no matter the mess. A lot of home decor books and magazines do not take this in to account, and I think this is a refreshing change.

I'm putting that thought up on my wall.
